Resets Aren’t Relational Ruptures — They’re a Return to Yourself (Ep 61)
Dec 08, 2025
Resetting Is Not Regression
You ever think your reset blew something up when, in reality, it saved you from blowing yourself up?
Modern life is loud. Especially during the holidays. The pace speeds up, expectations pile on, sleep drops, and your nervous system stays on high alert. So when your body asks for a reset, it can feel like you’re losing momentum.
You’re not.
You’re returning to yourself.
Resetting Is Regulation
Resetting is not regression. Resetting is regulation.
Your body doesn’t know the difference between a bear and a busy inbox. Stress is stress. Cortisol is cortisol.
When life feels unpredictable, your system stays in survival mode.
Regulation can look like:
- Slowing your breath • Pausing instead of pushing • Letting the nervous system feel safety again
This isn’t weakness.
It’s biology.
Gratitude Is Information
Gratitude isn’t bypassing.
It’s data.
It shifts your internal signal from danger to awareness.
You can be grateful for clarity. For noticing overwhelm. For realizing something needs to change. For having the awareness to pause instead of push.
That pause is the reset.
When You’re Tired, You’re Not Failing
Exhaustion changes how you communicate.
When you’re tired or overstimulated, reactions replace intuition. Neutral moments feel personal. Emotions escalate faster.
Sleep debt isn’t a flaw.
It’s information.
Resetting your body restores your ability to respond with connection instead of collapse.
Identity Loops Flare When You’re Exhausted
Old patterns don’t resurface because you failed.
They resurface because your system is tired.
Common identity loops include:
- People-pleasing
- Shrinking your voice
- Staying busy to avoid feeling
- Avoiding conflict
- Numbing or distracting
Resetting interrupts these loops long enough for you to witness them instead of living inside them.
With compassion.
Resetting Is Integration
You’re not erasing who you were.
You’re rebooting.
Turning off what no longer fits so you can choose what comes forward next.
Growth doesn’t come from holding tighter.
It comes from releasing what’s complete.
Simple Resets That Restore Coherence
Sometimes clarity doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from doing less, intentionally.
Here are gentle resets you can return to anytime:
- Take five slow exhales, letting the exhale be longer than the inhale
- Name the emotion you’re feeling without trying to fix or explain it
- Choose one small action that feels aligned instead of urgent
- Reset one surface in your home, not the whole space
- Mute digital inputs that dysregulate your nervous system
- Add content, conversations, or environments that nourish you
Small resets create big shifts.
You’re Right On Time
Resetting isn’t going backward.
It’s ownership.
It’s regulation.
It’s returning to center.
If the old version of you is resurfacing, it’s not a setback.
It’s integration happening in layers.
You’re not regressing.
You’re deepening.
And you are right on time.
